Management Team

Three Peaks Resources is led by a cohesive management team that is both skilled and seasoned. In all aspects of the company, from field operations to accounting to business development, the Company is led by personnel who possess the vision, talent and determination necessary to deliver the greatest possible value for our shareholders.

Ronald D. Wade, P.E., President and Chief Executive OfficerRon has over 38 years of experience in the oil and gas industry and specializes in corporate and engineering management, A&D, business development, financial modeling, deal screening and negotiations, reservoir engineering, and economic evaluations with independent oil and gas companies and consulting firms.

Ron has extensive experience in the Rockies, Permian, Mid‐Continent, East Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alaska oil and gas producing regions of the United States, as well as significant international experience in the Persian Gulf, South America, Egypt, and the North Sea. His latest ventures have focused on the Permian, Mid‐Continent, Rockies, and East Texas Regions.  He was one of the first to recognize horizontal drilling potential in the vertically developed Tonkawa and Cleveland (Marmaton) plays in the Western Anadarko Basin, which over the last several years have developed into very prolific horizontal drilling oil plays.

Ron earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Texas, Past Chairman of the Society of Petroleum Evaluation Engineers (SPEE) Dallas Chapter, and a member of IPAA and SPE.

Matt Miller, CPL, Vice President of Land. Matt is the Vice President of Land and has spent his career in the operated upstream energy industry as an independent and company Landman beginning in the mid-1980’s. Before joining the Three Peaks management team, Matt was the Vice President of Land at SRC Energy, Inc. (NYSE/AMEX: SRCI) for 4 years.  Prior to that, Matt was an Independent Landman, Staff Landman and Land Manager at various energy companies; that include Anadarko Petroleum and Kerr-McGee Oil and Gas.

Matt’s comprehensive experience includes work with minerals and surface, records, division orders, title curative, acquisitions, due diligence, Joint Operating Agreements, varied negotiations, governmental regulatory agencies, supervision of staff and outside legal counsel for several public E&P companies. His primary duties have involved assembling and managing operational land teams engaged in the drilling of over 2000 company operated wells.

Matt is a 1983 graduate of the University of Colorado with a BS in Business Administration, with an emphasis in Mineral Land Management, and has been a Certified Professional Landman since 2006. He is married to Kelly and together they have three children.  Matt enjoys running, fishing, and hiking the Colorado 14ers with his family.

Steve Smart, Chief Financial Officer. Prior to serving as Interim CFO for Three Peaks, Steve served as CFO for Purple Land Management, LLC from 2014 to 2018 and Executive Vice President and CFO for Approach Resources Inc. (NASDAQ: AREX) from formation in 2002 through 2013. Before Approach, Steve was Controller and Treasurer of Prize Energy Corp., a public exploration and production company, and Senior Manager in the Energy Industry group at Arthur Andersen LLP.

Prior to 1998, Steve served in senior financial positions with several public and private oil and gas companies, including Magnum Hunter Resources, Inc. and Saxon Oil Company. He began his career in public accounting with Deloitte & Touche, formerly Touche Ross, and has over 38 years of experience with both public and private companies in the oil and gas industry.

Steve holds a B.B.A. in Accounting from Angelo State University and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the State of Texas. Steve is married to Brenda and has four children and one grandchild.  When he’s not working, he enjoys playing golf, spending time with family and friends, and following sports of all kinds.

Kris Macaluso, Vice President of Geoscience. Kris is the Vice President of Geoscience and provides geologic expertise in the Williston Basin. Prior to working with Three Peaks, Kris devoted nearly 10 years facilitating the development of horizontal Bakken and Three Forks wells, managing A&D projects and non-op properties in the Rockies, and comprehensively studying the Bakken petroleum system with G3 Operating (Subsidiary of GeoResources, Inc.), Halcon Resources (merged with GeoResources), Oak Valley Resources and Earthstone Energy (merged with Oak Valley Resources). While at G3 Operating, her lead-in to the Williston Basin, Kris helped optimize drilling operations culminating in the $1B Halcon acquisition of GeoResources.

Prior to this, Kris spent over 5 years in the then-emerging Codell-Niobrara horizontal development in the DJ Basin, including executing the geologic evaluation of the Walsh acquisition in Northern Colorado while at Petro-Canada Resources and continuing the technical evaluation and expansion of the play while at Noble Energy (merged with Petro-Canada Resources). Her 20 years of domestic experience includes both conventional and unconventional projects in the Rockies, four years evaluating the Gulf of Mexico through 3D seismic and well log interpretation with the former Minerals Management Services (now the BOEMRE), and in other U.S. basins.

Kristine obtained a B.S. and a M.S. in Geology from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She also served a tour of duty in the United States Army as a Medical Specialist in Karlsruhe, Germany, during the Cold War. Kris maintains active memberships in AAPG, RMAG, SPWLA, and DWLS.  When she is not focused on geology, Kris volunteers in the community, enjoys many outdoor activities, including skiing and hiking, and hanging out with her husband, Paul, and three sons.
